Mustela has always given priority to using natural active ingredients where possible or desirable. But first and foremost ingredients are be chosen for their suitability for a baby’s delicate skin.

Through the leading edge work of Expanscience Laboratories’ own  R&D centre and its expertise in plant chemistry, it has had over 50 patents awarded in the last decade for its selection & isolation of plant active ingredients with a high activity potential.

Patented Extracts Include:

Lupin Plant Extract – inhibits enzymes found in baby’s urine and bowel movements responsible for nappy irritation, therefore useful in skincare for the nappy area (such as Stelactiv Nappy Care Cream).

Sunflower Oil Distillate- useful for eczema-prone skin because it helps replenish all important deficient lipids which results in a rejuvenated natural protective barrier which is key for management of eczema-prone skin. Sunflower Oil Distillate is the main active ingredient in the Stelatopia range: including Stelatopia Emollient Cream, Stelatopia Milky Bath Oil and Stelatopia Cleansing Cream.

Avocado Sugar Extracts – useful for intolerant or sensitive skin, reinforces the skin’s own natural barrier and reduces skin’s reactivity. Butyl avocadate – effect on sebum production therefore useful for cradle cap care products, such as Stelaker Cradle Cap Care

BioEcolia – helps maintain good protective skin bacteria
